| "Be Glad in It" Monday was the last day of Summer. I remember this because it almost always falls on my nephew, Jeff's, birthday September 21st. Although many may lament the end of the out-of -school season, it is only because of its ending that a new season begins. One of the tell tale signs of the beginning of fall are the Mums. These beautiful and hardy flowers come in all colors and create an incredible contrast of color against a graying autumn sky. As soon as they begin to emerge, they conjure up feelings and memories within me of bonfires, football, colorful leaves, a chill in the breeze, pumpkin carving, apple pie baking and wearing sweatshirts. The sight of a simple flowers does all of that. It brings joy to a new season and the reality that not only this season but every day is gift from God. As the Psalmist puts it so well, "This is the day the Lord has made, I will rejoice and be glad in it. We have a choice every day and every season to rejoice in it or be consumed by it. To rejoice in the day is to grab everything that each day has to offer. It is to wake up expectant of what God will do in the next 24hours. It is to claim the day for God knowing that God will deliver. Each day we have a choice. Today, I invite you to embrace the day and rejoice in it knowing it is God's and so are you. Sharing in Faith,
Rev. Craig W. Duke
